Sklodowska-Curie.

When I heard the name ‘Marie Curie’ for the first time, I didn’t know how she looked like. Only years after I got to see one of her pictures but she already had an image in my mind long before that.

So this is my imagined Marie Curie. The one from my imagination onto the canvas for the memory of her beautiful mind.

Single-cell.

How do you like the tSNE plot? ;) This is inspired by the single-cell RNA sequencing dataset from the brain of a mouse model with high anxiety and depressive-like behaviour.

For all the mice I sacrificed during my PhD for the cause of science, especially for the ones that I felt really connected for unknown reasons…

Lady Shadow.

Symbolizes the underrepresented and suppressed women, always in the shadows all around the world. Yet they keep shining brighter than ever.

This is for their fight and resilience.

Myriad.

This piece captures a moment of an internal scream masked by an external calmness and silence. Symbolizes a moment of burst.

This is for all suffering from social high anxiety.

Under the See.

This piece depicts the state of major depression as the feeling of drowning under the see.

It reflects the struggle of existence while being surrounded by water, which symbolizes the life itself. Proposes the question of how hard it gets to exist while surrounded by life.

A Dramatic Ode.

This piece depicts a moment of emotional dissolution, often associated with a burnout or mental breakdown. It is like a mirror, reflecting the often overwhelming emotional exhaustion we sometimes experience. The colours symbolically bridges the physical body and the fire to depict the concept of their unification.

Healing.

This piece depicts the journey of healing, which often is initiated by a transformative shift in perspective. It emphazises that the process of healing is fundamentally rooted in how we SEE the world. Healers are often those, who help others in fostering a renewed perception.

The dawn symbolizes the beginning of the healing journey, which is triggered when one begins to perceive their surroundings with newfound clarity.

This is for all survivors.

Postmodern Pain.

This piece depicts the complex nature of pain through all its vibrant colours. If you look close enough, the colours create a sense of harmony but appear distorted at first glance. When you take a step back and look again from a distance; you may see a beast, which is a metaphor for source of the pain.

At times, the source is us and it is good to look at ourselves from a distance to confront the monster within.

Queen.

This piece represents paranoid schizophrenia. It is a vivid portrayal of delusion and it speaks for itself.

This is for all the silent battles fought daily by survivors dealing with this extremely challenging life.

Lunatic.

This piece is a tribute to those who are marginalized and alienated by society as 'lunatics’. While depicted as a woman, it goes beyond gender to reflect their utter solitude.

Autumn Jazz.

This piece reflects the tranquility of music. It is a true memory and unforgettable scene I witnessed in Prague in 2021, and I painted this in the very same night.

This is for the good memories.

Bloody Blue Dot.

This piece portrays a blues musician with his beautiful deep eyes. Blood smearing his face symbolises the chaos, tragedy and violence in the world, yet through it all, he finds resilience in his melodies. Wars and oppressive regimes are casting long shadows over our existence. But we still persist on living in this bloody blue dot we call home, finding strength in music and love.

This is for the peace in the world. May our songs never cease.

Ocean.

This piece reflects PTSD. Portrays a figure on a beautiful beach with a gentle breeze, facing the ocean. However, the wind from behind veils her entire face with her hair, leaving her in darkness. This symbolizes the struggle of those dealing with PTSD, whose past traumas cast shadows over their perception of life. Their face is covered, they are in the darkness and unable to perceive the beauty of life, symbolised by the ocean.

This is for their strength and resilience.
